Fort Hamer Bridge opening set

The tentative opening date is now Oct. 18.

The Fort Hamer Bridge may open as early as Oct. 18.

Trudy Gerena, public information officer for the project, said a ribbon-cutting ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 18, although details are being finalized.

Opening of the bridge, which will connect Fort Hamer Road south to Upper Manatee River Road across the Manatee River, has been rescheduled twice already.
