Jack Levick retired as director of music ministries for First Presbyterian Church on July 15.

Levick served as director of music ministries for 11 years and is credited with helping grow performances at the church to further include the surrounding community of Sarasota. First Presbyterian Congregation Preschool Administrative Assistant and congregation member Pam Harding will miss playing alongside Levick.

“He had high expectations and he brought our music program to a whole new level where the rest of the community could enjoy things as well and not just the congregation with special pieces at Christmas time and performances,” Harding said.

Prior to joining First Presbyterian Church in Sarasota he served as minister of music and fine arts at First Plymouth Congregational Church in Lincoln, Nebraska for thirty-one years.

Levick will be returning to his home state of Virginia and having accepted a part-time position as organist and choirmaster at Trinity Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, Virginia.

A search has started to find a new music director. Starting Sept. 4, Neil Page will serve as the interim director of music ministries. Page was previously the director of music at St. Boniface Episcopal Church on Siesta Key.
