Does East County need more schools?

East County is growing and the Manatee County School District noticed.

As the area continues to offer more stores, restaurants and housing options for residents, it might need also need more schools.

At 1 p.m. April 7, the Manatee County School Board will meet to discuss the district's "need for expansion" in areas throughout the county, School District spokesman Steve Valley said.

Superintendent Rick Mills and Deputy Superintendent of Operations Don Hall will lead the discussion, to be held at the School Support Center, 215 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.

The meeting will also focus on the district's financial outlook, a press release said.

Hall will review the items discussed at the meeting at the School Board's workshop prior to its monthly meeting, April 14.
