Cops Corner: Pelican Press

Sept. 13
7:20 p.m. — 1200 block of Old Stickney Point Road.
Vehicle Crash. A Vermont resident backing her vehicle out of a parking space struck a woman walking toward a grocery store. The car’s back bumper hit the woman, who fell to the ground. The driver stopped to check on the woman, who refused emergency assistance. Deputies arrived, and she again refused any medical assistance.

Sept. 16
10:42 a.m. — 600 block of Calle Del Otono.
Residential Burglary. A rental-property owner reported two televisions were missing from her unit after noticing a pillowcase cover where one of the TVs sat on a glass table. Deputies could not locate a point of entry but dusted a night-light for fingerprints. The woman said there might have been old keys “floating about” from past tenants.

8 p.m. — Intersection of Stickney Point Road and Midnight Pass Road. Glass Bottle on Beach. Deputies cited a man who was in possession of a glass vodka bottle on Siesta Key public beach. The man does not have to appear in court, but must pay a $100 fine.

Sept. 17
1:45 p.m. — 6100 block of Midnight Pass Road.
Petit Theft. A man told deputies that someone took four $50 bills from his wallet sometime during the previous evening. There was no sign of forced entry, and every door was locked. Deputies reported that the unknown suspect left smaller bills in the man’s wallet, and did not take his wife’s purse or loose cash on an end table. The man said the wallet was in his pants on a dresser.

Sept. 19
11:20 a.m. — 900 block of Beach Road.
Lost Property. A man lost a plastic case containing two credit cards and $550 in cash while swimming at Siesta Key public beach. He told deputies that he planned to cancel the credit-card accounts.
