JULY 14

GONE FISHIN’

9:21 p.m. — 700 block of Magnolia Road

Suspicious Vehicle: An officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle that was backed into a kayak launch area. Upon arrival, the officer found an unoccupied pickup truck. He observed a light coming from the launch area and found the driver, who was fishing from the shore.

 

SORRY, BUDDY

1:09 p.m. — 5400 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive

Public Service: A man contacted police to ask if it is legal for golf carts to travel on GMD, which the caller said is permitted farther north on State Road 789 in Bradenton Beach. The officer advised the caller that golf carts may not be operated on GMD.

 

JULY 16

GHOST AT THE DOOR

1:39 a.m. — 7000 block of Joy Street

Suspicious Circumstance: Officers responded to a caller who said that someone knocked loudly on the downstairs door of his residence around 1:15 a.m. The caller did not hear a vehicle leave or the sound of walking, but when he went outside, he did not see or hear anyone. Officers searched the area with no results.

JULY 17

ANARCHY ON GMD

11:00 p.m. — 700 block of St. Jude’s Drive

Disturbance: An officer was dispatched to a possible road rage incident. The officer made contact with the complainant, who said a group of reckless motorcyclists approached his vehicle while he was driving north on GMD. He said the bikers yelled at him while passing his vehicle on the right. The caller said the group followed him to a residence where the subjects continued yelling and threatening him. Seeing no sign of the subjects, the officer requested a message be sent to Bradenton Beach Police to warn of possible reckless drivers headed to their jurisdiction.
