Sarasota County commissioners will consider using tax dollars to help a local company expand into a new facility during a regular meeting Tuesday.

The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County and county staff have recommended a $100,000 economic incentive grant for an unnamed manufacturing firm that expects to invest $5.7 million into plans for a new building, according to a staff memo. The company, listed under the code name "Project Fowl," would hire 50 new employee over the next five years as part of the agreement.

The county has roughly $6.4 million to spend on economic development projects.

During the meeting, the County Commission will also discuss:
+ An update on the local homeless initiative
+ A public hearing on the extension of temporary use permits for special events in the Siesta Key Overlay District, with the addition of Halloween
+ Progress on the Fruitville Initiative, and ambitious development plan for more than 400 acres east of I-75
+ Support for a $150,000 state grant for Marie Selby Botanical Gardens
+ A presentation from the Parks Advisory and Recreation Council on its annual report
