City, county closures scheduled for Labor Day

Sarasota County and city of Sarasota government offices will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.

County libraries and recreation centers will also close for the day, and Sarasota County Area Transit will not be running.

The Sarasota City Commission Meeting scheduled for Monday will be held Tuesday at 2:30 and 6 p.m. The Robert L. Taylor Community Complex is open from 6-10 a.m., but the pool will be closed.

Bobby Jones Golf Club and the Steigerwaldt-Jockey Children’s Fountain will be open for their regular hours during the holiday. The Payne Park Tennis Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2, fall hours will be in effect at the Children's Fountain. The fountain will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

Trash service in both the city and county will not be affected.

+ Longboat Key

Longboat Key Town Hall will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, for the Labor Day holiday and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Due to the holiday, solid waste and recyclables collection has been rescheduled to Sept. 2. Place all items at the curb by 7 a.m. For information, call 316-1988.

+ East County

County offices and Lakewood Ranch Town Hall are closed in observance of Labor Day, Sept. 1.

Trash, recycling and yard pickup will be delayed one day Tuesday through Saturday in unincorporated Manatee County.
