Sarasota City Auditor and Clerk Pamela Nadalini informed Sarasota city commissioners in an e-mail March 12 that Director of Information Technology Chance Craig’s contract has been terminated.

Craig had been suspended since Jan. 6 and is due three months of severance salary for being fired. Craig had an annual salary of $92,000.

The Sylint Group, which was hired to perform a computer forensics investigation of the city’s Information Technology Department, has discovered the department’s computer network and archive e-mail system lacked serious upgrades.

The Sylint Group is working with Nadalini’s office to correct subpar performance moving forward in the department and help train current and future employees as the department and its systems are modified and reorganized.

In a March 14 e-mail sent to some city staff members, Nadalini also announced that employee Cory Armstrong has been hired as the city’s computer support administrator, which was effective Wednesday.

Nadalini met with Sylint Group officials Thursday morning to discuss the new job duties for Armstrong and to reassign responsibilities from Armstrong’s former computer support technician position.
