Carson Milburn is a Lakewood Ranch resident and a senior on the IMG Academy boys lacrosse team. Milburn signed with Georgetown University on May 24.

When did you start playing lacrosse?

In eighth grade at Saint Stephen's Episcopal. I started late, which is not ideal. I played baseball for two years there. Then my close friend (Colin Prince) said that he was playing lacrosse and that I should try it. I did and fell in love with it. I transferred to IMG Academy before my junior season.

What is the appeal to you?

No matter how athletic you are or where you come from, you can play lacrosse and have success. It all depends on how hard you try. If you put in the work, you can find success.

What is your best skill?

Face offs. I started as a midfielder, but one day my coaches at Saint Stephen's asked if anyone wanted to try taking face offs and I said sure. By sophomore year, I was used as a specialist. I to use the "pinch and pop" method and get the ball in transition.

What has been your biggest challenge?

If I am not playing well, I can get in my own head too much. I start to doubt myself. I have to remind myself to think positive to overcome that.

Why sign with Georgetown?

Obviously, the academics are great. Coach (Kevin) Warne is great. He is a relatable guy. He is building a title contender there and I wanted to be part of it. (Georgetown went 16-5 before losing to Yale in the NCAA Tournament, 19–16).

What is your favorite food?

Either steak or crab legs. Steak I get cooked medium rare, nothing too crazy.

What is your favorite subject?

Math. I took three math classes this year. I have always done well in it. I am not sure what my specific major will be yet, but I am entering into the business school at Georgetown.

What is your dream vacation spot?

The Bahamas. I went once with my family, in 2018, and it was nice. I would love to go back.

Which superpower would you pick?

I have to go with flying, that would be cool. Traffic is terrible. You could skip all of that. Plus, you could travel the world.

What is the best advice you have received?

Always finish what you start. Never quit on anything.

Finish this sentence: "Carson Milburn is ... "

... An intelligent, motivated human being.
