Students at Braden River High School are working to bring a “touch of home” to military servicemen this holiday season.

The school’s Student Government Association is sponsoring this year’s Holiday Mail for Heroes Program, a partnership between the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes. The organizations are collecting and distributing holiday cards to American service members, veterans and their families in the United States and around the world.

Community members also can participate in the program by sending a Christmas card, thanking a soldier, to Holiday Mail for Heroes, P.O. Box 5456, Capital Heights, MD 20791-5456.

Cards should be postmarked no later than Dec. 9. Ensure all cards are signed, and be sure to use generic greetings, such as “Dear Service Member.”

Only cards are being accepted, not letters. Additionally, please do not include inserts of any kind and do not include personal email or home addresses on the cards.
