Come At Me, Sarasota: JDub's Brewing Co.

After announcing its Soon to be Relatively Famous, Hopefully Annual Hot Dog-Eating Contest, JDub's Brewing Co. invited Alex and the ThisWeekinSarasota.com team down to the taproom to try the challenge on for size.

Although he's currently slimming down for beach season, Alex was willing to sacrifice his cutting phase for the good of the challenge and go head to head with JDub's employee Taylor Pogue to see who could stomach the most hot dogs in 10 minutes.

Did Alex have the intestinal fortitude to bring home the (not quite) bacon? Or did JDub's have home-field advantage? Watch the video above to find out.

"I think, in this industry, you do some things because they make sense," says founder Jeremy Joerger. "Things like beer tastings, beer dinners, beer festivals — this is just us being silly. This brewery has always been down for the community and willing to do new things — sometimes weird things. It's always fun and always silly at the core. For us, it's just about what we represent: high quality beer, good people and not taking life or ourselves too seriously."

The contest, which takes place in the taproom May 23, will feature 20 competitors in male and female divisions, all competing for a $250 cash prize and $50 bar tab.
