Longboat Key Club and Resort threw its usual Summer time beach barbecue Sunday, May 26, but since it was Memorial Day weekend, a lot more people donned red, white and blue. There was live music and Key Club served summer staples to the families in attendance: burgers, hot dogs, watermelon - and even red, white and blue chocolate covered strawberries.

Phillippi Shores Elementary's second grade gathered for the 2nd annual Measurement Olympics Friday, April 26. The students took part in Olympic games focused on measuring such as paper pate discus, Olympic golf and water relay. The second grade has been learning about measuring this year and used their estimating and measuring skills to garner points.

Forty Carrots Family Center put on a speaker event with child development and behavior specialist Betsy Brown Baun Thursday, Sept, 26 at the Hyatt Regency. Baun spoke with more than 700 parents about creating meaningful conversations with children of all ages. Sponsors and guests met with Forty Carrots members before the talk with parents.

There was a large showing at the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast's art opening for artist Rush Bowles; 'Seas of Change' exhibit Thursday, Sept. 26. The exhibit runs through November and can be viewed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, 400 Palmetto Avenue, Osprey.
