The Rotary Club of Sarasota Bay donated $1,000 in children's tricycles to Pines of Sarasota, Tuesday, Aug. 7. The toddlers that attend the Evalyn Sadlier Jones Child Care And Learning Center at the Pines' campus were delighted with their new tricycles and showed them off to the residents Tuesday morning.

It has been a great season for the women's golf association. On Tuesday, April 17, The 9- and 18-holers celebrated the end of season with a little bit of bread and putter. Braden River Elementary students took to the streets during the school's Learning Rocks Walk-A-Thon Oct. 28. Students raised donations for their one-mile walk around the school, which included a fun tunnel, misting tunnel and more. Following the walk, they cooled off with popsicles and a dance party.

Santa, or David Jennings, ditched his sleigh for an opti boat at the Make A Mark race at Sarasota Yacht Club on Friday, Nov. 4 against other costume-clad sponsors and yacht club commodores. The fundraiser and kick-off for the Sarasota Yacht Club Invitational Regatta supports Sarasota Youth Sailing, and the young sailors helped racers and judged the event. There was also a silent auction and buffet for the event.

35 parishioners head to East Bradenton to help children from 13th Avenue Dream Center learn and improve their reading every other week. Each Christmas, the Church hosts a party for the children. Some of the Children show-off their skills by performing recitations, and the church and children sing carols. Following the ceremony, Santa Claus met the children to deliver something special.

Now husband-and-wife team Ben and Shelby King, along with their three children, and Ben's parents, Bob and Susan King, are working hard to offer fresh lettuce, zucchini, heirloom tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables to the East County. The Community Haven for Adults and Children with Disabilities held its annual Haven Hoedown on Nov. 9. Country singer Adrian Ray performed songs off his self-titled album. A free event, the Haven Hoedown featured barbeque food, a pretzel stand, a hayride, an auction and a raffle. Vendors sold baked goods and crafts. Proceeds of the event benefited Community Haven.
