A restaurant that has been a mainstay on Main Street in Sarasota for decades has closed. Bravo’s Pizzeria & Italian Eatery is no longer in business as of March 31.

“It is time for me to enjoy my golden years,” says a note posted on the door, signed by Bravo’s owner Antonio Giacinto.

Bravo’s opened in 1998, according to its website. The restaurant is located next to the Hollywood 11 movie theater near the busy intersection of Main Street and US 301. It has attracted crowds for its pizza, sandwiches, soups, salads and pastas.

“It has been my pleasure to serve you for the past 30 years, and appreciate your support,” Giacinto says in his note. “Thank you for understanding. New things are coming.”

A cleaning crew working inside the business on Tuesday says the closure was believed to have taken effect this week. Bravo’s did not immediately respond to an email to confirm the closure date and to elaborate on the new things that lie ahead.

The restaurant is at 1995 Main St., in a property owned by SC Leasing LLC, which is based next door at 1999 Main St., according to records. A registered agent for the LLC did not immediately respond to a request for comment about what is next for the space.
