Longboat Key Fire Rescue “filled the boot” recently in a fundraising effort for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Firefighters were set up outside of Publix collecting donations for MDA, a philanthropic organization committed to funding research and providing care for those with muscular dystrophy, ALS and other neuromuscular diseases.

LKFR raised $3,600 in two days at a table outside of the supermarket with big yellow signs, boots to collect cash and friendly smiles.

MDA has partnered with the International Association of Firefighters for a “fill the boot” campaigns across the United States since 1954.
