Cold weather shelters open in Manatee County for frigid spell

With frigid temperatures expected over the next week, Manatee County has announced, in partnerships with community organizations, that additional cold weather shelters will be open.

The Salvation Army will open at cold weather shelter at 1204 14th St W., Bradenton with check-in starting today at 6 p.m.

Under One Roof, 407 57th Ave. E., Bradenton, opens its shelter for women only at 2:45 p.m. today. Transportation to Under One Roof is available through Manatee County Area Transit beginning 2:30 p.m. today from Turning Points, 701 17th Ave. W., Bradenton.

Turning Points also will be open for those seeking shelter and coffee during the cold weather.

Residents are encouraged to spread the work to anyone who might need a warm, safe place during the cold temperatures.
