Fruitville Road crash scene cleared

Traffic is flowing normally again, though Sarasota Police remind drivers that the westbound closure of Fruitville Road remains in place because of previously planned road construction.

Morning traffic in downtown Sarasota is snarled after a traffic crash at Fruitville Road and Central Avenue that involved vehicles hitting a business on the southeast corner.

Numerous Sarasota Police and county fire-rescue vehicles are on the scene of the two-vehicle crash reported around 8:30 a.m.

The biggest traffic effects are taking place between Cocoanut and Central avenues, with resulting detour traffic slowing down nearby alternate routes.

No injuries were reported, police said in a social media post, advising drivers to avoid the area.
