A former Sarasota city manager and an investment adviser were recently elected to the board of directors at the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, according to a release from the nonprofit organization.
Marlon Brown, Sarasota’s chief executive from 2021-2024 was chosen to begin a three-year term, as was Jeffrey McCurdy, a private investment adviser at Guardsman Private Capital Management, a company he founded.
Brown, the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce’s director of government affairs, is new to the Barancik board. McCurdy was named to the board last spring to serve out an open term and now is beginning a full term.
The board also elected Rebecca Harris Barancik to serve as chair and Steve Barancik as vice chair for one year.
