An initiative to connect local employers with talented interns while strengthening the Sarasota area’s workforce pipeline has been initiated by the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.

The program will provide 50 paid summer internships while helping businesses connect with potential future employees. Participating businesses may receive up to $3,000 in reimbursements per intern to help offset costs while receiving access to talent.

InternConnect is open to college students and graduating high school seniors.

“InternConnect is about creating real-world experience that benefits both students and employers,” said Chamber Vice President of CareerEdge and Economic Development Dan Sidler in a news release. “This program helps businesses grow their talent pipeline while giving interns valuable exposure to local career opportunities.”

The application period opened Jan. 26 and will close April 17. Selected participants will take part in a required orientation on Wednesday, May 27. The internships will run June 1-July 31.

Education opportunities and industry needs will be aligned across a range of sectors. Interns will gain hands-on experience, professional development and exposure to career opportunities.

InternConnect receives financial support from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation and is part of the chamber’s broader commitment to workforce development and retaining talent for local businesses.
