Longboat Key gets a new police chief on Aug. 4

Public is invited to morning swearing-in ceremony of Russ Mager.

Russ Mager will be sworn in as Longboat Key's chief of police in a ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m., Aug. 4 in the commission chambers of Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road.

Mager recently retired from the Delray Beach Police after more than 29 years. He was hired from more than 75 applicants in Longboat Key’s nationwide search to replace Chief George Turner, who left the department in January.

Mager's selection was announced in mid-June

Maher introduced himself at te final Town Commission meeting before their summer break, saying  “I’m very big on relationships,’’


The public is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.In late June,
