Photo by Petra RiveraSt. Mary Star of the Sea Women’s Guild welcomed 38 new members at its annual new member luncheon on Jan. 25.
About 30 of them came to the luncheon held in the church activity center. Kay Kochenderfer, Lyn Kennelly and Madeline Reiber organized the event as a way to bring the new members together and help them mingle within themselves and the board of directors of the guild.
“You can really tell the energy of the church and our tight-knit community by just going to Mass," said Cindy Noble, president of the Women’s Guild. "So, I think that and our great staff like Father Robert encourages people to get more involved.”
Each new member received a new member gift bag that included cards and candy. Father Robert Dziedziak welcomed everyone with a prayer. Noble shared with them more about the guild and then the women went around and introduced themselves to other new members and board members.
“I joined the women’s guild at the same time that my husband joined the men’s guild,” said new member Terri Leonard. “We love St. Marys and we know this was the perfect way to get involved. Everyone has been so welcoming and I’m excited to take part in all of the social and charity events. I’m excited to be in a community with like-minded women and be more involved with other Longboaters.”
