Bobby Boivin said everything he and his wife Mindy Kauffman do together seems to be dog-related, which was why they were inspired to open Boo’s Ice House & Dog Bar in May 2023.

The bar is a place where people and their dogs can socialize, dine and celebrate special occasions.

“We had a doggy Christmas, we had a doggy turkey day. Now it’s Valentine’s Day; there’s a doggy Valentine’s Day,” he said.

On Feb. 10, the Boo’s Valentine’s Day Celebration event brought together booths from vendors like Granny's Dog Bandanas, and also a charity, Tender Heart Charities, along with live music, a kissing booth and raffles.

It also brought together dogs and people.

“Just seeing these guys interacting is beautiful,” said Julianna Vasquez of Lit Dog Treats, as she watched the dogs greet one another. “It’s like seeing people interacting who haven’t seen each other in awhile.”

Boivin noted that due to having opened recently, this is the first time the bar has had the opportunity to host a Valentine’s Day Celebration.

“For us, everything we do is a first,” he said, noting that despite robust support from many areas of the community, he hopes the bar’s success will grow.

People can visit on their own, or enjoy the experience with their dog, if the dog is a Boo’s member or guest. The bar features indoor and outdoor off-leash play areas.

The Valentine’s Day activities hosted by the bar will also include a dinner on Feb. 14.
