The sugar bowls were on the floor instead of the tables at the Longboat Key Club on Tuesday.Â
"We're improvising," Managing Director Rick Konsavage said.Â
With no hole to putt toward in the Harbourside ballroom, the 18-hole Women's Golf Association took shots at a sugar bowl.Â
"We're having a little putting contest now," Donna Pettinato said. "We have a little entertainment, brunch, and golf afterwards."
The luncheon is held every year to welcome new members to the club. On a typical year, that's about a dozen women. Pettinato doesn't know what prompted the rise in membership this year, but the club welcomed 23 new golfers.Â
