Another project in the books

When River Walk's Geoff O'Quinn gets stressed, he works on a project he can control.

His latest project became a mini library model. He used a stain glass painting his neighbor, Anita Isenberg, gave him as the door to his library, and he's is in the process of finishing the final details before donating it.

"I just wanted to throw something out there that would inspire people to make their town a better looking place and do something to make people smile," O'Quinn said.

Anthem kick-off for the cube

Only a couple of people attended the brief opening ceremony for

"the cube" at Main Street at Lakewood Ranch Sept. 2, but singer Krista Benson gave her all during a rousing rendition of the National Anthem.

Benson, who teaches voice technique at Ovation School of Musical Theatre and is the musical director at Rise Above, was asked by Lakewood Ranch Communities to sing the Star Spangled banner at the unveiling of the cube, which was designed to allow people to write their feelings about and memories of 9/11.

The cube will sit in front of the Lakewood Ranch Information Center until Sept. 12.
