Samaritan Counseling Services luncheon sheds light on mental health

The 14th annual event was held on March 9 at Michael’s On East.

The ballroom at Michael’s On East appeared a little brighter March 9 for the 14th Annual Samaritan Counseling Services of the Gulf Coast Luncheon & Silent Auction.

Sunshine is a big part of the counseling organization’s new logo, so it was only fitting that the plates and napkins on each table were gold, and every floral centerpiece featured sky blue and bright yellow flowers.

Guests mingled and perused the silent auction items — ranging from a beautiful orchid in an artistic vase to a one week-stay in a four-bedroom lodge in Wears Valley, Tenn. — before heading inside for the program. Event-goers learned more about the organization from Board President Marlene Petro and Executive Director Rev. Rick Howell, then gained a better understanding of the organization's religious aspect by hearing about its unique Spiritually Integrated Counseling Program with Rev. Bill Clough.

The speeches closed with a client testimony.
