Two victims of small plane crash in Manatee County identified

The twin-engine plane had taken off from Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport about 20 minutes before the crash.

Manatee County Sheriff's Office detectives have identified the victims of Saturday's twin-engine plane crash near Duette.

David B. Muchler, 58, of Raleigh, N.C., and Robert Redfern, 90, of Manatee County died in the crash.

Redfern had recently moved to Manatee County from Melbourne.

The plane crashed into a wooded site at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The crash caused a wildfire that eventually was controlled by local fire departments. No homes were affected.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash of the Hawker Beechcraft BE-60, which had taken off from Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport about 20 minutes before the crash.
