The objective was simple on July 28 for participants of the inaugural Rock the Boat Regatta at the Lee Wetherington Boys and Girls Club. It was all about staying afloat.

Intertape Polymer Group sponsored the event, partnering with Boys and Girls Club to construct about a dozen cardboard and duct tape boats big enough for two paddlers.

Contestants faced off against each other on July 28.

But it wasn't all about speed. Winners were chosen in three categories — one for first finisher, one for most creative design and one in the CEO face off between Intertape Polymer Group CEO Greg Yull and Boys and Girls Club CEO Bill Sadlo.

Even those that didn't participate got a little piece of the action. They lined the edge of the pool, anxious to see who would win, who would lose and if their boats could really stay afloat.
