The Gillespie Park Neighborhood Association was up early on Feb. 25 and ready to get their hands dirty. Residents dug through dirt and compost to replant flower pots in front of the Gillespie Park police substation and the garden in front of the Gillespie Park sign.
The neighborhood utilized funds from a city of Sarasota neighborhood grant to facilitate the improvements.
“The substation is 20 years old so it needed some spiffing up,” Gillespie Park Neighborhood Association President Linda Holland said.
