Big League motivation

Back to League Night serves as a Junior League meet and greet.

A sea of stylish sundress-clad women packed Sophie’s at Saks Fifth Avenue on Aug. 1.

But it was about much more than fashion at this meeting of the minds. The occasion, the Junior League of Manatee County’s Back to League Night, was a chance for both current and potential new members of JLMC to meet, mingle and get excited about the 2017-2018 league year.

JLMC is a group of philanthropic women in Manatee County who, for more than 30 years, have been committed to making a positive impact in their community. The group’s focus is on improving the lives of women and children in the area through fundraisers and other outreach.

Programs supported include the Kids in the Kitchen program, a childhood obesity and nutrition initiative from the Association of Junior Leagues International, which is designed to help communities address the urgent issues surrounding childhood obesity and poor nutrition.
