The egg hunt was over, but 4-year-old Peyton Collins sat gleefully in a grassy field at Greenbrook Adventure Park, reaching her hands into a woven basket, grasping one plastic egg at a time and popping them into her mouth.
Crunch.
The egg split and out popped a treat.
“I love candy,” she said. “My favorite is chocolate.”
Her mother, Amanda, chuckled.
“You don’t want to eat all of it,” she said. “Let’s save some for later.”
Peyton and her brother, Patrick, 5, were two of more than 1,000 children who gathered at the park April 8 for Lakewood Ranch Community Activities' annual Eggstravaganza. This year’s event included an egg hunt, pictures with the Easter Bunny, vendor booths, food and crafts, music, sack races, a petting zoo and other festivities.
