The facebook page for Ringling Underground said it would be a “rain or shine event,” and organizers lived up to their promise. Attendees enjoyed snacks and brews in the courtyard of the Ringling until a mid-song downpour limited local indie pop band Cassolette’s performance to just a few songs — but after a brief rain delay the crowd re-emerged. Those who stuck it out bounced and head banged along to the dreamlike sounds of St. Petersburg-based psych/experimental band Soapbox Soliloquy And The Nimbus Initiative under the roofed breezeway.
This monthly event is a part of the Art After 5 program that offers discounted admission to the museum after 5 p.m. on Thursdays. Along with live music, the event also featured five pieces of artwork from a project called Products of the ‘The Zone’ that focuses on artists who, according to the event description, “utilize the power of the machine to process images with a synthetic treatment.”
Ann DeBellevue and Pam Sweeney.
Cassolette guitarist/vocalist Jesse Coleman rocks out with wife Ciera Bobera on piano/vocals, Darren Ankersmit on guitar and vocals and Todd Weissfeld on drums.
Bridget Leavy, Lacy Thomas, Jayden Irizarry and Jo Rodriguez.
