The Florida Department of Transportation has advanced plans to improve the intersection of State Road 64 and Interstate 75.

At the Sarasota-Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization March 28, FDOT Project Manager Jeff Mednick said the new design will reconfigure the intersection so drivers heading northbound on I-75 will have one exit for both east and westbound State Road 64, among other changes.

The project is nearing design completion and construction is expected to start in the summer of 2017.

A public meeting on the $47 million project is slated for 5 p.m. April 14 at The Source Church, 5412 S.R. 64 E., Bradenton.
