Families got to practice their catch and release skills on plastic fish during the Jiggs Landing Heritage Fishing Festival today.

The Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources department hosted the family-friendly event at the preserve as part of the Manatee County Heritage Days. Visitors could practice casting, throwing nets and tying fishing knots. Families also had the opportunity to rent kayaks and go out into Ever’s Reservoir.

The Friends of the Braden River volunteered to give tours of the replica historic cabin that is part of the Jiggs Landing facility.
