A section of northbound Interstate 75 will close this weekend to vehicular traffic as contractors move equipment.
Road detours will follow.
A Florida Department of Transportation traffic report states contractors expect to close northbound I-75 from Fruitville Road to north of Foley Creek from 11 p.m. March 13 to 5 a.m. March 14. Contractors will move a crane across I-75 from the median to the east side of the interstate. The northbound I-75 off-ramp at University Parkway will close briefly during this time, and law enforcement will be present.
The contractor expects a temporary detour route from the night of March 13 through March 18, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., while crews demolish the existing I-75 southbound bridge over University Parkway. All ramps will remain open while the detour is in effect, except for the brief closure Sunday night.
Detours will be as follows:
• Motorists traveling westbound on University Parkway (east of I-75) wishing to travel west through the interchange are directed to travel northbound on I-75, exit at westbound State Road 70/Exit 217B, enter southbound I-75, and exit at University Parkway/Exit 213;
• Motorists traveling eastbound on University Parkway (west of I-75) wishing to travel east through the interchange will travel southbound on I-75, exit at Fruitville Road/Exit 210, enter northbound I-75, and exit at University Parkway/Exit 213;
• Motorists traveling southbound on I-75 wishing to travel east on University Parkway are directed to exit at Fruitville Road/Exit 210 (south of the closure), enter northbound I-75, and exit at University Parkway/Exit 213; and
• Motorists traveling northbound on I-75 wishing to travel west on University Parkway are directed to exit at westbound S.R. 70/Exit 217B (north of the closure), enter southbound I-75, and exit at University Parkway/Exit 213.
Temporary intermittent single and double lane closures are in place at night/overnight on eastbound and westbound University Parkway from Cooper Creek Boulevard to Market Street from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, March 13 through Friday, March 18.
Motorists are cautioned to watch for trucks entering and leaving the highway.
