The Lakewood Ranch Little League 11-and 12-year-old All-Star team’s path to the District 26 title was anything but easy.Â
After falling to Braden River 5-4 in the winner’s bracket final June 29, Lakewood Ranch blanked Manatee American 12-0 to advance to the championship game, setting up a rematch with Braden River.Â
Lakewood Ranch slugged its way to a 21-10 victory July 2 to extend the championship game series another day.Â
In the winner-take-all game, Lakewood Ranch held off Braden River 12-8 to capture the Majors division district crown.Â
As the district champion, Lakewood Ranch will advance to the four-team Section 4 tournament July 15-16, in Land O’Lakes.Â
In Junior All-Star action, Braden River saw its early lead slip away as Manatee American/National came back to win 11-9 June 29.Â
Lakewood Ranch handed Braden River its second loss of the tournament with a 14-8 victory to advance to the championship game.Â
Lakewood Ranch edged past Manatee/American National 6-4 July 2 Â to force a winner-take-all game. Manatee American/National responded with a 5-3 victory of its own to clinch the District 26 crown July 3.Â
