The Riverview High boys basketball team got off to a fast start, draining four 3-pointers in the opening minutes of the first quarter and never looked back, as the host Rams cruised to a 78-55 victory versus Tampa Riverview in a Class 8A-District 6 semifinal Feb. 3.Â
Brion Whitley scored 34 points and AJ Caldwell added 19 points to propel Riverview into next week’s regional tournament. Point guard D.J. Bryant added 11 points and 10 assists.Â
The Rams (24-2) will host the winner of the other semifinal between Newsome and Alonso in the district championship Feb. 5. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.Â
