Thunder rolls in district semifinal

The ODA boys basketball team will face Moore Haven in the Class 3A-District 9 semifinals Feb. 2.

The Out-of-Door Academy boys basketball team overcame a sluggish start and used a strong second quarter to roll past Imagine School of North Port 69-37 in the Class 3A-District 9 quarterfinals Feb. 1. 

Holding a one-point lead at halftime, the Thunder outscored the Sharks 23-7 in the second quarter. Junior guard Kolbie Ward led all scorers with 17 points. Amad Brayboy added 13 points. Jake Garrett contributed 12 points and Nate Patrick also finished in double figures with 11 points. 

With the win, ODA will face Moore Haven in the district semifinals Feb. 2. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. at Fort Myers Canterbury School.
