Aug. 3

IT'S OK, I'M A DEPUTY
11000 block of Ranch Creek Terrace, Bradenton
Telephone harassment: A woman contacted the Sheriff's Office to report that her phone was stolen on Aug. 1 from the parking lot of her apartment complex. But the next day, she said her phone was returned to her by a deputy. She didn't ask for a report or for the deputy to pursue any charges. She continued to get text messages from an unknown person. The Sheriff's Office adviser her that no deputy had been dispatched to her address. She was advised to have her number changed and to use the screen lock feature to prevent information from being used in the event her phone is stolen. The incident was documented.

NOT TOO TIRED TO RUN
5900 block of State Road 64 E., Bradenton
Civil dispute: A man went into a car repair shop and had four tires installed on his car. Once the tires were installed and he paid $1,142, he went back into the service area and became irate. He said the tires installed on his car were used tires. The shop explained they were new tires, but he convinced the employee to refund his money. However, the employee said he would have to talk with the manager before he could have his car. The man, however, possibly had a spare key and took off with his car and the tires. The shop called the Sheriff's Office to take a report.

NOT SO JOYOUS RIDE
6500 State Road 64 East, Bradenton
Reckless driving: A man driving a Kia SUV exited State Road 64 on to 65th Street East and put his vehicle into the slide, which was easy due to wet pavement from the rain. The car slid across the roadway and then began another slide in the parking lot of Country Junction Plaza. A Sheriff's Office deputy was parked in the lot and the vehicle narrowly missed his car. The driver accelerated again, almost sliding into a building. The man tried to exit his car in a hurry, but the officer instructed him to get back into the car, which also had bald tires. The man admitted to making his car slide.

PLUCKY DISAGREEMENT
5600 block of 36th Court East, Ellenton
Information only: A woman complained to the Sheriff's Office that her neighbor had been starting arguments with her and her son. The problems escalated when the neighbor threw feathers at her front door because she knew she was allergic to them. The police went to the neighbor's home, but she was not present. The woman wanted the information documented.

OPEN AND SHUT  CASE
12000 block of Longview Lake Circle, Bradenton
Suspicious incident: A man ha cleaned all the windows of his home and when he was done he was positive be closed all the windows and replaced the screens. The following day, he said his master bedroom was very warm. He noticed a window in the master bedroom was completely open. He said he observed two small dents, possible made with a screwdriver. He didn't believe anyone entered the house because the blinds were down and undisturbed and nothing was missing from the home. He said someone had been at the house the entire time since he cleaned the windows. He called the Sheriff's Office to request a report.
