About 300 women — and a handful of men — celebrated the right of women to vote Aug. 20, at the Polo Grill and Bar’s Fete Ballroom for the annual Women’s Equity Day Luncheon, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Sarasota County.
Guests checked out booths from human rights-focused, political and other organizations before settling down for a colorful salad for lunch and a keynote address by Rose Cohen, president and CEO of Jewish Family and Children’s Service of the Suncoast, a Jewish faith-based organization that aims to empower people and families toward self sufficiency.
Sharon Kunkel, Monica Streacker, Lisa Barzel and Mary Sue Baker enjoy the day.
Ronnie Riceberg and Linda Geller, of Lakewood Ranch, attend every year.
Izy Burns and Tonianne Gianakouros, of Girl Scout Troop 254, check out informational booths.
