Shore on Longboat Key is another step closer to opening, as contractors began tearing down the former Moore’s Stone Crab Restaurant this week.
Shore co-owner Mark Caragiulo said the demolition should take less than 48 hours, with construction of the new restaurant set to begin next week.
“We’re excited to get started,” said co-owner and founder Tom Leonard in a previous interview with the Longboat Observer.

The new Shore on Longboat Key will be in Longbeach Village at the north end of the island.
Shore on Longboat Key will feature a 2,300 -square-foot kitchen.

Roughly half the restaurant is in ruins as teams continue demolition this week.
Contractors joked with a passing bicyclist that a car had crashed into the restaurant.
Moore’s sold for $3.2 million last year.
Shore on Longboat Key will also boast 185 seats, 55 parking spaces and 16 boat slips.
Longbeach Vilage residents and the town of Longboat Key anxiously awaited the demolition of Moore’s.
