Junior Austin Katz won four gold medals to help power the Riverview High boys swim team to a district title at the Class 4A-District 6 Swimming and Diving Championships Oct. 31, at the Selby Aquatic Center, in Sarasota.Â
The Rams scored 544 points to finish well ahead of district runner-up Countryside (335). Lakewood Ranch finished fourth with 229 points followed by Sarasota with 197 points.Â
Katz won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 40.96 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 50.58. He also was a part of the Rams 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams, which both posted first place finishes.Â
The Riverview High girls team also won a district championship. The Lady Rams scored 528.5 points to finish ahead of Palm Harbor University (468). Lakewood Ranch finished third with 242 points and Sarasota was fourth with 224.5 points.Â
