The Lakewood Ranch High baseball team saw its season come to an end with a 9-3 loss to Sarasota in the Class 7A-region 3 semifinals May 5.
The Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Shane Zipperer drove in Cameron Pearcey, who singled and stole second before scoring the game’s first run.
But the lead proved to be short lived, as the host Sailors plated six runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Zipperer finished with three hits and Pearcey had two to lead the way for the Mustangs at the plate.
