The trails of Historic Spanish Point are especially enchanting for the 2nd annual Fairy House Festival as families meandered the paths lined with handmade fairy homes.
The two-day festival leads guests through the winding paths to the butterfly garden for fairy-related crafts and games. Along the way fairy houses submitted to the contest by children and adults were nestled among the trees and flowers. All of the submitted houses used natural resources like seashells, branches, flowers, leaves and bark. A station was available for attendees to make their own fairy houses. Cari Queen and her daughter Ella were unaware of the popularity of fairy houses and are considering entering the contest next year.
“We talked about maybe planning our own [house], because we didn’t know this was a thing,” Cari Queen said.
