Ogres, bears, gingerbread men and a slew of fairytale characters took the stage June 25, at Lakewood Ranch High School, as more than 50 children wrapped up the three-week Acting Up Performing Arts Camp with end-of-camp performances of "Shrek The Musical Jr." The show tells the story of how Shrek, an ogre, falls in love with Princess Fiona and how he comes to embrace his individuality.
Vivi Kate Waldhalm portrays Princess Fiona as a child.
Gianna Munoz portrays a teenage Princess Fiona who wishes to be rescued by her prince charming.
Mary Grace Epps steals the show as Princess Fiona.
Taylor Shaklik adds characteristic sidekick humor as Donkey.
Storytellers Tatiana Galante, Jocelyn Freed and Calissa Foege set the stage for the next scene.
Brown bears Christian Malaga, Yaira Spears and Jordan Bollinger walk away, displaced from their home in the swamp.
Storybook characters Isabela Mendez (Gingerbread Man), Melissa Silva (Wicked Witch) and Nicole Peterson (Duck) lament to Shrek about losing their home at the swamp.
Shrek, portrayed by Jackson Helwege, laments to his sidekick, Taylor Shaklik, as Donkey, about how Princess Fiona says he's "hideous."
Isabela Mendez, as the Gingerbread Man, lights up the stage with a solo.
