SUP Championship splashes at Siesta Key

Stand-up paddleboard competition brings athletes and residents to Siesta Key.

Competitors lined up along the shoreline with board and paddles in hand before racing into the waters for the Sarasota SUP Championships Saturday morning at Siesta Key Beach. The stand-up paddleboard competition was formerly known as the Sarasota SUP Race Series but was condensed to a single event with 10K, 5K and one-mile races for participants of varying levels of experience. 

Danny Ching completed the 10K course with a time of 01:04:40.51 that qualified him as the overall winner. Justin Digiorgio took home the overall winner prize for the 5K event with a time of 42:25.04.
