Local rowers vie for titles

The USRowing Youth National Championships were held June 12 through June 14, at Nathan Benderson Park.

One hundred sixty-three teams from across the nation were on display during the USRowing Youth National Championships June 12 through June 14, at Nathan Benderson Park, in Sarasota. 

Eighteen national champions were crowned during the United States’ premiere youth rowing event, which featured both the Sarasota Crew and the Sarasota Scullers. The Crew qualified six boats for the regatta while the Scullers qualified both its men’s and women’s youth 4x boats. 

Local results include: 

Sarasota Crew

  • Men’s Youth 8+ (1st place in B Final, 6:01.073)
  • Women’s Youth 8+ (6th place in B Final, 6:59.817) 
  • Women’s Lightweight Youth 8+ (2nd place in C Final, 7:08.632)
  • Men’s Lightweight Youth 8+ (4th place in B Final, 6:22.335) 
  • Men’s Youth 4+ (6th place in C Final, 7:03.697)

Sarasota Scullers 

  • Men’s Youth 4x (6th place in B Final, 6:27.800)
