From visits to Anna Maria beach to learning how to braid Challah bread and making art projects, Chabad of Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch offers a blend of culture and fun during its annual summer program.
Children spend one session a day in Camp Gan Israel focused on a Jewish theme, such as the alphabet or traditional songs. During the rest of camp, kids can go to the pool and make art projects, too. Chabad held three one-week sessions from June 29 to July 17.
While teaching children how to braid a three-strand Challah bread, camp counselor Ceita Marasow brought out sprinkles for them to add to the top of the bread.
"We don't normally put sprinkles on Challah," she said, laughing, "But it's more fun for the kids."
Challah bread is distinguished by its braided pattern.
