Business cards flourished during Manatee County Chamber of Commerce's July Power Luncheon.

Catered by Sonny's BBQ, the luncheon welcomed new and old Chamber members in Lakewood Ranch Wednesday, July 1. More than 10 area businesses gathered to network and get to know one another.

"Networking is the main purpose," said Leigh Weger, executive assistant to the membership development department of the Chamber. "Everyone gets the opportunity to stand up and introduce their business. It's a great way for new members to get to know the Chamber."

Jahna Leinhauser, vice president of community development at the Chamber, launched the introductory talks by reminding businesses to purchase from each other when possible.

"We want to promote buying local," she said.
