The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three teenagers for a string of vehicle burglaries in Heritage Harbour early today.
Avery Walters and Brandon Chisan, both 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile have been arrested for breaking into a home in the 100 block of New Briton Ct., in Stoneybrook.
“There may be a fourth suspect, but there’s not sufficient evidence at this time,” Assistant Public Information Officer Randy Warren said.
The sheriff’s office report states the homeowners at Briton Court heard noises from their driveway around 12:30 a.m. today. The husband exited the home and chased a pair of males, who were inside his vehicle rummaging through his belongings. A third male was observed near the street holding two bags when deputies arrived. He was detained and interviewed, and the other suspects were located.
All three were arrested and taken to detention facilities.
At least five vehicle had been illegally entered with items taken as part of this incident. None of the cars were locked, Warren said.
“Lock your vehicle and do not leave valuables in your vehicle, especially in plain view of someone who is prowling around for that same reason,” he said. “There are people watching. When it’s unlocked, you’re making it that much easier for them.”
