Pirates gain edge on Sailors

The Braden River boys basketball team beat Sarasota 78-74 in district action Dec. 15.

The Braden River High boys basketball team posted a near double-digit lead in the first quarter and held on down the stretch to beat Sarasota 78-74 in Class 7A-District 11 action Dec. 15. 

Deoni Cason scored 27 points and recorded five steals to lead the way for the Pirates. Jordan Curtis added 12 points and Curtis Cobb finished with 10 points and five assists. Jamal Owens had nine points. Brandon Dunbar contributed eight points and hauled in 15 boards. 

Sarasota's Kaleb Fields scored 13 points and added three rebounds and four assists to lead the way for the Sailors. Zacari Brent also had 13 points. Jackson Carter finished with 12 points; and Darian Daniels added 11 points. 

With the win, Braden River improves to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the district while Sarasota falls to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in the district.
